I’m back! 😀 I had to miss the last hop because I was c-r-a-z-y busy, and didn’t catch a minute, but I’m SO GLAD to be back this week 🙂 How cool were the last projects?! AWESOME.  I’ve got my work cut out for me here… So without further ado, this weeks sketch was designed by the fantastic Angelina from Intatwyne Designs, so here goes;

Sketch 3

Here is my take on the sketch…

P1010286e.jpg

This cute little box holds 2 Yankee Votive candles, and I love it.  These are the start of some Christmas gifts I’ll be handing out this year, and I can’t wait!  Here’s the how to…

P1010285e.jpg

I’ve used the Neutrals DSP Stack for this, and you can get the whole box from one sheet. You need a piece measuring 7 x 12 inches, and a second piece measuring 2 x 12 inches.

To make the box base, using the larger piece score along the short (7 inch)side at 1 3/4 (this is the base!), 4 & 4 7/8 inches

Rotate 90 degrees

Score along the long (12 inch) side at 1 3/4, 5 3/4, 7 1/2 and 11 1/2 inches.

Score the long 2 x 12 inch strip on the long side at the same intervals.  Adhere this centrally in the 2 1/4 inch panel (the one above the base) on the larger sheet.

Burnish all fold lines.

Cut up the score lines to the 1 3/4 inch score line to make the base of the box, and remove the thin narrow (1/2 inch) bit at the end.

Put Snail Adhesive along the 1/2 inch strip and fold to make the box. (This glue line will be in the back corner)

Gently fold the top of the box down to the score line and pinch together so the front and back meet, the 7/8 inch sections should meet in the middle. Punch a handle into the top using the Medium Oval punch.

Folding the box in half, line up the punch in the Curvy Corner Trio Punch to make the ribbon slots.  – TIP – Line up the edge of the layer of DSP to the outside of the guide on the punch.  Repeat on all 4 folds.

Fold and glue the bottom panels with Snail to make the base, put the candles in, and close the top.  Feed the White Glitter Ribbon through the ribbon slots, and tie a bow.

To finish stamp the Merry Christmas sentiment from Petite Pairs in Smoky Slate onto Whisper White, and punch out with the Large Oval Punch. Sponge edges with Smoky Slate for contrast.
Layer onto a Scalloped Oval punched from Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper using Mini Glue Dots, adhere to the front  of the box using Mini Glue Dots.

And that is how it’s done! I REALLY hope that makes sense to you, I tried to make it as simple as I could.

The second box is made using Whisper White with a panel of Holidays Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.  I used Fast Fuse to put this one together, as it doesn’t show through the vellum, and holds cardstock better than Snail.

Right, that’s me DONE! Now you can carry on hopping along to Suzanne at Hullahbaloo, or back to Ania and her Stampin’ Cave 🙂 Have fun, and I’ll see you soon,

Business Card Holder

P1010229

Wow! This is a quick post!

Earlier today I went to a networking event run by a friend of mine.  Before I went I shared these quick phone snaps of some business card holders that I’d made to take with me over on my Facebook page, and in a couple of groups that I’m in. And I honestly wasn’t expecting such a FANTASTIC response from everyone who saw them!  I’m still a little overwhelmed a few hours later… SO… Here’s the post I promised of how to make them 🙂

P1010233

You will need:

Cardstock measuring 3 3/4 x 7 inches – I used Old Olive, and Calypso Coral.
Pretty Petals DSP – Front panel measures 3 1/2 x 1 1/4 inches… or whichever gorgeous Designer Series Paper you fancy 😉
2 DSP Side Panels measuring 1 x 2 inches
Very Vanilla cardstock trimmed to 1/2 x 3 1/2 inches for the sentiment.

To make the card holder;

Score your cardstock on the long side at 1 3/4, 2 1/4, 4 3/4 & 5 1/4 inches.
Attach the DSP panel to the top front flap in the centre using Snail Adhesive.
Stamp the Very Vanilla strip with “HELLO” from the Crazy About You stampset in co-ordinating colours.  Attach to the bottom centre of the bottom flap (Snail again).

Score the 2×1 inch side panels on the long side at 1/2, 3/4, 1, 1 1/4 & 1 1/2 inches.  Concertina fold, and attach to the inside/bottom of the holder using Snail.

For the closure I used the 2nd Smallest Buttons from the Neutral Designer Buttons pack in Very Vanilla, adhered with Mini Glue Dots to the back.

This is also my first attempt at playing with my new photo backgrounds, and I really like them! 😀

Timeless Elegance Romantic Card & Box

Timeless Elegance Romantic Card & Box

Well, it’s not everyday I go all romantic… but with this paper, how could I not?! It’s simply STUNNING!
So stunning, that I didn’t really want to cut it up…So to use it in it’s full glory I had to make it the focus of this card.

Trim the Timeless Elegance DSP to 5 1/4 inches square, and colour the roses in Cherry Cobbler ink using a sponge dauber.
Mount on a 5 1/2 inch square of Basic Black card with Snail Adhesive.
Tie a bow across the corner. I used some leftover Cherry Cobbler Sheer Linen from the A/W 14 catalogue, which is unfortunately no longer available.
Mount on a 6×6 inch card blank in Cherry Cobbler using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I matched the layers on the inside of the card using Basic Black, and Very Vanilla in place of the DSP.

Now as for that adorable, teeny tiny box… I have had a tutorial for this Origami Box saved on Pinterest for months just waiting to give it a try.  I made it using a 6×6 piece of DSP, again from the Timeless Elegance series, and I think it turned out great! Perfect size for a piece of jewellery… Best bit? There’s no cutting, or gluing required! Just a pretty ribbon to keep it closed and finish it off!

A Little Sumthin’ Sumthin’ gift box

Oooh, it’s getting colder! Anyone noticed? Everyone on Facebook certainly has! Haha 🙂

I love this time of year! The leaves have changed colour, nights are longer… Autumn/Winter for me means the comfy jumpers, warm gloves and boots come out of hiding. Yay! And I get to spend my evenings cosied up with my favourite films/books/blogs with my huge snuggly blanket in front of the fire with a big mug of hot chocolate with loads of mini marshmallows 🙂 Mmmm…

I can’t think of a better way to spend cold evenings, and as the big “C” is approaching I wanted to share this cosiness. But I can’t knit blankets, so I came up with these as a cute and quick gift… (I’m thinking teacher gifts & stocking fillers!)

Firstly, I measured my sachet on my Stampin’ Up! Grid Paper. These particular sachets measure 6 1/2 inches tall by 2 inches wide, and almost 1/2 inch deep (that’s a lot of chocolate!)

To make the box I did the following:

1- Cut Very Vanilla cardstock to 8 x 5 1/2 inches.

2 – Randomly stamp the large ‘splatter’ from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set using Early Espresso ink pad. Then the middle sized splatter in Baked Brown Sugar ink, and finally the small splatter in a both ink colours.

3 – With the stamped side facing up; Score the cardstock on the shorter side at 1/2, 2 1/2, 3 and 5 inches.

Score the longer side at 1/2 and 7 1/4 inches. SumthinSumthin1

See PDF template.

4 – Fold and burnish along score lines. (in Grey – Measurements on template in Pink)

5 – Trim as shown (Pink on the template).  Round corners of top flap.

6 – Apply Sticky Strip along outside tab.  Fold the box together to close.

7 – Fold in flaps to close the bottom of the box and adhere with sticky strip.

8 – Sponge all edges of box using Baked Brown Sugar ink (Optional)

9 –  Pinch together the top of the box, so flap folds over to the front.

For the decoration and close:

1 – Stamp A Little Sumthin’ Sumthin’ stamp onto Very Vanilla Cardstock in Early Espresso ink.

2 – Cut out using the Note Tag Punch

3 – Punch another tag from Baked Brown Sugar cardstock

4 – Sponge edges of both tags with Early Espresso Ink

5 – Pierce hole through both tags, and secure with a Candy Dot Brad Base, topped with Early Espresso Candy Dot.

6 – Push brad through front of box, just below flap to secure in place

7 – (Optional) Secure tags in place using mini glue dots

All that’s left to do is put the sachet in the box, and give it away 🙂
